Top 5 Laptops For College

Number 5 – Acer Swift 3 (2020)

We are kicking off our list today with the best budget option. The Acer Swift 3 is the best laptop you will find in its price range. Most times when you buy a budget laptop, you would have to sacrifice performance, but the Acer Swift 3 eliminates this with its AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU with integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics.

The laptop has a very minimalist design with a matte silver finish. This gives it a very premium feel and with this, no one would know its a $600 laptop. One of the most important things student laptops need to have is battery life. You don’t want to run helter-skelter looking for an outlet to charge when you’re on campus. Thankfully, this system has a really good battery life. A team tested the battery by looping a 1080p video and the laptop ran for about 7 hours and 6 minutes. If you’re just taking notes in class, then this should easily last you the whole day.

The Acer Swift 3 comes with a 14-inch 1080p display which is expected at this price point. Honestly, on such a small screen, you really can’t tell the difference between a 1080p screen and a 4K screen, expected you pixel peep.

The keyboard on this is nice and clicky and it gives spring-like feedback. It’s perfect if you do a lot of writing and note-taking with your laptop. The trackpad is not the best out there, but it’s good enough for most people. Finally, for security and quick access to your laptop, you get a fingerprint scanner.

Number 3 – Google Pixelbook Go

It is almost impossible to compile a list of laptops for college without talking about Chromebooks.

When Google Pixelbook came out in 2017, we saw what was the best Chromebook to hit the market at the time, and even now, it remains one of the best. Unfortunately, all the premium features in design and performance came at an equally premium price.

This is the best, and most affordable Macbook option for students who are already in the Apple Ecosystem and want to stay in it.

The MacBook Air is powered by a 10th Gen Intel CPU that’s either i3, i5, or i7, depending on your selection, with an Intel Iris Plus GPU. You can also pick between 8 and 16 gigabytes of RAM, and storage options range from 256 gigabytes to 2 terabytes.

With a battery that lasts about 11 hours and a weight of just 2.8 pounds, this laptop is one of the best laptops for students out there, period. It starts out at $1000, which is actually not bad for a Macbook.
