Idols of Cosplay

You should have at least one cosplay idol as a budding cosplayer. Why? Because almost everyone who has ever achieved success was initially motivated by someone else. Someone who inspired them to want to be just as good, if not better, in the future. Anything is possible if you dream big. Who knows, maybe you’ll be so brilliant at cosplay that you’ll be able to make a profession doing it one day. Imagine getting paid to attend conventions all over the world for the rest of your days! Yes, you did hear me correctly. There is such a thing… and it isn’t “somewhere over the rainbow.”

Fascinating fact:
Professional cosplayers, often known as cosplay models, exist in Japan. Yes, people are paid to dress up in costume and pose for photographs. Isn’t that a lovely job? However, they take their work very seriously, which they must because professional cosplayers charge on average $150 per hour, with additional fees every 30 minutes after that. Professional cosplaying is also a highly competitive field because it does not require a school diploma or other special training.
Screen images are essential for cosplay references, as we all know. They assist you in getting it “right” and ensuring that your cosplay is “correct.” But, let’s face it, with all the L cosplayers out there these days and the omnipresent Misa Misa, Sasuke, Axel, and Roxas cosplayers, a “correct” cosplay isn’t always enough to stand out at a conference.

So, how can you make a cosplay suit that stands out from the crowd? That causes other attendees to stop and look in admiration, cluster around you to complement your imaginative cosplay costume, or want to take photos of you and then glomp you so hard your ribs crack, and you die? … well, maybe not the last one…

The point is that you need a costume that turns heads if you want to stand out at a cosplay convention and possibly win one (or all) of the costume awards. So how do you go about doing this? Find a Cosplay Idol first. This is someone you will look up to in order to improve yourself. “What makes them so good?” you might wonder. Is it their accouterments? Or their attention to detail? Their fabric choices or the way their poses and personalities come over in photographs? Pay close attention to the costume you’re attempting to imitate, utilize your imagination, and infuse your cosplay with a little of your individuality.
